EXPERIENCE:

Pennsylvania State University Libraries
Coordinator for Collection Development 1991-

Responsibilities include: developing and implementing collection policies; assessing collection strengths and weaknesses; identifying immediate and long-term collection development goals; fostering the growth of the collection management skills of the Libraries’ faculty; assuring direct dialogue on collection concerns between faculty throughout the University and the Libraries; participating in divisional and Libraries wide planning, policy making and budget preparation activities; overseeing the acquisition and processing of gifts; working directly with the Development Officer to contribute to the long and short range development goals of the Libraries; and representing the Libraries’ collection development concerns and interests in various national and regional consortia and programs.

University of Missouri Libraries
Columbia, Missouri 1984-1991

Chair of the Collection Development Committee. Responsibilities included: Preparing the firm order monograph budget; surveying the faculty; allocating a $2 million one-time-only acquisitions fund; managing a collection analysis project (NCIP); planning and implementing a $100,000 serials cut in 1987 and a $150,000 cut in 1988; coordinating Collection Development activities with Acquisitions; and regularly meeting with the Director to advise her on collection development matters.

Art, Archaeology and Music Librarian. Responsibilities included: collection development; faculty liaison; online searching; reference service and library instruction in the areas of Music, Art, Archaeology, and Anthropology; supervision of the services of the Recorded Sound Collection and Library Services for the Disabled. Staff included two Library Assistants and student assistants. AAM Library materials included valuable art books, musical scores, recordings and audio equipment.

Wards Edwards Library
Central Missouri State University
Humanities Area Librarian 1978-1984

Responsibilities included faculty liaison, collection development, reference service, bibliographic instruction, and supervision of the Humanities Area of the library.

Additional responsibilities were:

Online Reference Service Coordinator: Establishing policy and procedures; circulating and filing new materials; developing a filing system; conducting searchers’ meetings; maintaining the search log; writing annual reports; and acting as a resource for searchers.

International Studies Coordinator: A special appointment by the Vice President for Student Affairs and Provost to assist them in developing and implementing an International Studies program. This was a new position.

Also taught formal University courses: Use of the Library; Understanding the Soviet Union Through its Theatre (taught the literature segment of an interdisciplinary course); Russian I and Russian II.

Collaborated with other faculty to develop a multidisciplinary, multi-cultural course. Also a member of the Women’s Studies Committee, charged with developing a Women’s Studies minor and identifying outside funding.
